1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using ShortenFor.Me ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and Team ShortenFor.Me ("we", "us"). Users in India are additionally subject to applicable Indian laws including the Information Technology Act 2000, IT (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules 2021, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to use ShortenFor.Me
  • If you are between 13–17, you may only use the Service with verifiable parental consent
  • You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
  • Your account must not have been previously terminated for violations of these Terms

3. Permitted and Prohibited Use

You may use ShortenFor.Me to:

  • Shorten URLs for legitimate personal, professional, or commercial purposes
  • Track click analytics on links you own or have permission to share
  • Create QR codes for your links
  • Share shortened links on any platform in accordance with that platform's rules

You must not use ShortenFor.Me to:

  • Shorten URLs that link to malware, phishing sites, or any harmful content
  • Distribute spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or deceptive content
  • Link to content that violates any applicable law, including content that is obscene, defamatory, or promotes violence
  • Circumvent geographic restrictions or sanctions
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without written permission
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our express written consent

We reserve the right to terminate accounts and remove links that violate these prohibitions without notice.

4. Free and Premium Plans

Free Plan: Includes up to 25 short links with 90-day expiry. Links on the free plan display an interstitial advertisement page before redirecting visitors.

Premium Plan: Paid monthly ($9.99/month) or yearly ($99.99/year). Includes unlimited links, permanent links, full analytics, QR codes, custom short codes, ad-free redirects, and weekly AI reports. Premium features are available immediately upon payment confirmation.

Free Trial: Where offered, a free trial provides full Premium access for the specified trial period. No credit card is required for trials. You will be notified before the trial ends.

5. Payments, Refunds, and Cancellation

Payments: All payments are processed securely through Stripe, Razorpay, or PayPal. We do not store your card details. Prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.

Refund Policy: We offer a pro-rata refund within 7 days of initial purchase if you are not satisfied. No refunds are issued for renewals after the renewal date has passed. To request a refund, email support@shortenfor.me.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your Premium features remain active until then.

Renewals: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. We will send a reminder email 7 days before renewal.

6. Intellectual Property

The ShortenFor.Me platform, including its design, code, and content, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain full ownership of the URLs and content you submit. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and store your URLs solely to provide the Service.

You must not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our platform without our written permission.

7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

ShortenFor.Me is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.

We are not responsible for:

  • The content of URLs shortened through our Service
  • Any harm arising from clicking shortened links (we actively remove malicious links when reported)
  • Loss of data due to technical failures (we recommend you maintain your own records)
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including consumer protection laws applicable in India.

8. Link Removal and Account Termination

We may remove any link or terminate any account, with or without notice, if we determine that it violates these Terms, applicable law, or poses a risk to other users or our platform.

You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be erased within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

On account termination, your shortened links will cease to function within 24 hours.

9. Abuse Reporting

If you encounter a ShortenFor.Me link that redirects to harmful content, please report it at our contact page or email abuse@shortenfor.me. We review all reports and take action within 24 hours for critical abuse reports.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in India.

We encourage you to contact us first to resolve disputes informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, either party may seek resolution through appropriate legal channels.

For DPDP-related grievances, you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is constituted and operational.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by displaying a notice in your dashboard at least 14 days before changes take effect.

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
